How does the migration process at Adapt IT work?

We operate in a way that ensures the update does not disrupt your company's daily operations.

  1. Analysis and 1:1 Copy: We create an exact copy of your database. All preparatory work is conducted in an isolated test environment.

  2. Code Update (including OpenUpgrade): For Community versions, we utilize official Odoo Community Association (OpenUpgrade) scripts. We also adapt your source code and custom modules to meet the requirements of the new Odoo and Python versions.

  3. Testing and Verification: We provide you with access to the updated test version. You verify the correctness of data and processes before making the final decision to go live.

  4. Production Cutover (Weekend): We perform the actual migration and engine upgrade during a service window (usually over the weekend), minimizing downtime for your employees.

Costs and Timeline

Every Odoo instance is different, which is why we prepare quotes and schedules individually.

  • Time: From 2-3 business days for simple instances (Community migrations typically take longer than Enterprise).

  • Pricing: Depends on database size, system edition, and the number/complexity of custom modules that require updating.

NOTE: Service costs are based on actual hours worked—verified by the client.

Yes, we perform migrations starting from Odoo version 8.0. If you have an even older version, please contact us.

We are unable to provide a valuation without a detailed scope review. 

Custom-developed modules typically require a code update when transitioning to a higher Odoo version. Before initiating the migration, the source code of the modules must be refactored to the new API.

After reviewing the module code, we will estimate the time required for the update. Based on this valuation, we will prepare a migration proposal, factoring in the labor costs for module development.

Yes, they do. They have a special migration script and offer to fix all errors caught during the migration. Our task in this case is to verify the test migration and point out errors (which Odoo must then fix).

It depends on your current setup. If your server has an old operating system, a change is recommended. Newer Odoo versions utilize newer libraries. Your cybersecurity also depends on that server. An Odoo migration is an excellent time to upgrade your infrastructure.
